Koopa Hockey League History
Here's some historical facts about the Koopa Hockey League:
- Founded in 1925 by Koopa Stanley
- First eight teams were the Dark Land Koopas, Ice Land Icers, Fortress Foes, Troopa Land Troopas, Giant Land Giants, Thwomp Land Thwomps, Grass Land Goombas, and Fire Land Flames
- 1950 expansion teams: Pipe Land Piranhas, Water Land Swimmers, Sky Land Flyers, and Desert Land Pyramids
- 1975 expansion teams: Bullet Land Bullets, Missile Land Missiles
- 1996 contracted teams: Bullet Land Bullets, Missile Land Missiles
- 1996 league format change: Teams split into two conferences, Shell and Pipe. Koopas, Icers, Foes, Giants, Flames, and Pyramids in Shell Conference; Troopas, Thwomps, Goombas, Piranhas, Swimmers, and Flyers in Pipe Conference
- 2000 expansion teams: Battling Bob-ombs, Yoshi Winners, Donkey Kong Champions, Oakland Athletics, Mario Stars, Johto Glaciers, Fast Falcons, Icy Pokemon, Pokemon Masters, Kirby Checkers
- 2000 league format change: Teams split into four divisions, Koopa, Mario, Troopa, and Poke. Koopas, Icers, Foes, Giants, Flames, and Pyramids in Koopa Division; Bob-ombs, Winners, Champions, Athletics, and Stars in Mario Division; Troopas, Thwomps, Goombas, Piranhas, Swimmers, and Flyers in Troopa Division; Glaciers, Falcons, Pokemon, Masters, and Checkers in Poke Division.
