- Founded in 1999 by the MLSC (the Mario Lego Sports Committee)
- First eight teams were the Koopa Troopas, Mario Mushrooms, Dark Land Lava, Grand Goombas, Pikachu Thunder, A+ Apes, Yoshi Yo-Yo's, and Flying Falcons
- First four playoff teams were the Koopa Troopas (6-1), Mario Mushrooms (5-2), Pikachu Thunder (5-2), and Yoshi Yo-Yo's (4-3)
- Mario Bowl I: Pikachu Thunder 34, Mario Mushrooms 31 OT
- Second-year expansion teams: Football Fortress, Fighting Fire, Pokémon Trainers, and Titanic Giants
- 2000 playoff teams: Mario Mushrooms (8-0), Football Fortress (5-3), Fighting Fire (4-4), Pokémon Trainers (7-1), Pikachu Thunder (6-2), and Titanic Giants (3-5)
- 2000 conference finals: Mario Mushrooms 49, Football Fortress 12--Pikachu Thunder 39, Pokémon Trainers 38
- Mario Bowl II: Mario Mushrooms 49, Pikachu Thunder 25
- Third-year expansion teams: Frozen Flurries, Johto Masters, Animé Attackers, and Kirby SuperStars
- 2001 season scheduled to have 10 regular-season games, 8 playoff teams, 2 playoff rounds, and Mario Bowl III
- Possible 2002 expansion teams: Super Sub-conians, Desert Land Destroyers, Thwomp Crushers, Piranha Plants
